Don’t be afraid to pick up the phone

If you’re considering a Lifetime Mortgage as an option to help support you financially during your retirement, it is likely that you have already done a little bit of research on the subject.

You may have downloaded our free brochure, or perhaps you have found out how much you could release using our handy Lifetime Mortgage calculator.

No matter how much research you may have undertaken independently, it is essential that you seek professional advice from a qualified adviser.

We understand that taking the next step and giving an equity release adviser a call can be a daunting one.

Perhaps you are feeling particularly wary of equity release as you have already worked hard to pay off a mortgage in the past, and the concept of a new mortgage isn’t the most appealing, or maybe you are concerned about how it may affect your loved one’s inheritance.

These are common concerns, and as a member of the Equity Release Council, we are committed to providing our customers with the highest level of advice and recommendation standards to ensure your interests are protected. We will look at all your options including standard residential mortgages if applicable to ensure you are making the right decision for you and your family.

From the initial phone call through to signing the contract, we are here to help every step of the way.

Discover North East Equity Release’s step-by-step process below:

The initial phone call

After picking up the phone, your call will be answered directly by myself, Joanne.

This initial call will be a friendly, informal chat to discuss your thoughts and potential requirements and to help you understand how equity release works, giving you the opportunity to ask any questions and for me to gain a little insight into your circumstances and whether a Lifetime Mortgage is a viable option for you.

At this stage, only very basic information is required including your age, the type of property you own and its approximate value.

If you decide to proceed, I will be your dedicated advisor and look after you personally throughout the whole process from start to finish and anytime thereafter that you may need me.

The First Appointment

If releasing equity from your home whilst maintaining ownership sounds like something you would like to pursue, we can then arrange an appointment which is tailored to your unique circumstances.

We are more than happy to chat over the phone, via video call, at my office in Cramlington, or alternatively, I would be happy to visit you in the comfort of your own home.

At this appointment, I will take the time to gain a full understanding of your financial needs and future plans and then provide a personalised illustration which will cover all associated costs and charges to consider.

It is important to note that if you are working towards a particular deadline, you should let us know as soon as possible so that the process is seamless and funds are released on time.

Making A Decision

At North East Equity Release, we are committed to providing absolute transparency throughout the entire process. We encourage family members to be involved in the appointments, and there is never an obligation to go ahead or any pressure to make a decision quickly.

We understand that this is a big decision, and we want you to take as much time as you need. We are only a phone call away if you have any questions after your appointment.

If you are happy to proceed, for your peace of mind we will complete the application for you and submit it to the lender.

Your Property Valuation & Formal Offer

After your application has been submitted, the lender will then formally acknowledge the application and send an independent surveyor to value your property at no cost to you.

This survey is to provide the lender with the market value of your property so that they can make a formal mortgage offer.

Once the lender is satisfied with your property valuation, they will send you the offer.

The Solicitor Appointment

Prior to the completion of your Lifetime Mortgage, you will need to meet with a solicitor. In this appointment, the solicitor will ensure that you have a full understanding of the mortgage details, taking copies and arranging for you to officially accept the offer.

Completion

Once you have accepted the offer, the lender will then arrange a date to release the funds into your bank account.

Whilst these key steps may seem daunting at first, I am always on hand to help and support you with any queries or concerns, ensuring you understand every aspect, obtaining the best mortgage for your circumstances and helping you make informed decisions so you can be confident in your choice.
