Later Life Conference – Continued Professional Development
As the later-life mortgage market continues to grow and evolve, it is important that I keep up to date with the latest product innovations so that I can provide my clients with the best later-life planning advice. As a minimum, I complete over 40 hours of structured learning per annum by attending industry-focused events such as seminars, and webinars and regularly reading contemporary literature on the subject.
On 16th June 2022, I attended a conference at The National Space Centre in Leicester hosted by Air Sourcing which was attended by multiple industry-leading lifetime mortgage providers such as Aviva and LV.
The conference provided an excellent opportunity to meet with other lifetime mortgage advisors from across the country, build further knowledge and gain useful advice in relation to improving customer journeys with the keynote presentation from astronaut Tim Peake was particularly inspiring.
Coming away from the conference, I spent some time reflecting on the focus of the presentation, “The need for later life advisers to always look at the bigger picture”
With over 30 years of experience already advising on mainstream mortgages including mortgage products for the over 55’s outside of the equity release sphere, I am proud to already be highly experienced and suitably qualified to always include all possible alternatives in my advisory meetings to suit each individual’s unique circumstances.
With so many factors to consider with equity release, from tax implications to state benefits, care costs, downsizing and inheritance, attending conferences on the subject helps me stay ahead of the curve regarding best practice approaches.
